Syed Asgar Ali condoles demise of 5 passengers in Doda road mishap
Urges Govt to implement recommendations of Legislator’s Committee on Chenab Valley’s roads

Kishtwar,, April 12 (Scoop News)- Expressing concern over the killing of 5 passengers in a tragic road mishap in Doda, Former MLC and Provincial Vice President Syed Asgar Ali today urged the Govt to implement the legislator’s committee report on the Chenab valley road accidents.
In a statement to the press, Syed Asgar Ali said that he was shocked the know about the loss of life in a mishap on Thathri - Gandoh road in Doda in which 5 people got killed and four others sustained injuries after a mini-bus, they were travelling in, skidded off the road and plunged into Kalnai River near Piyakul.
Asgar Ali demanded ex-gratia compensation to the victims of the road mishap and free of cost treatment to the injured.
“Then Govt had constituted a Legislator’s Committee which had recommended certain measures like to discard vehicles in use from more than 20 years and encouraging use of double tyres mini-bus for the transportation of passengers since they can easily negotiate sharp curve while keeping grip on the road,” said Syed Asgar Ali.
He said that “The overloading is one of the main problems in Chenab Valley and the continuous use of two decade old passenger vehicles have posed a serious threat to lives of the people.”
“The vehicles which have gone out of order should be discarded,” he said. He added that the authorities concerned should identify places where landslides and shooting stones trigger and disrupt the vehicular traffic while posing threat to the lives of the passengers.
He said that they had suggested diversion from Batote to Kishtwar because landslides and shooting stones took place. He said that the Govt should deploy a critical care ambulance somewhere at Pul Doda so that the injured can be timely shifted to the hospital for treatment in case of road mishap.
He said that the Legislator’s Committee had also recommended a joint committee of police, traffic police, and Roads and Building Department to identify vulnerable places on Jammu-Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban highway.
He further said that the licenses of the drivers should be checked because many of them have fake licenses. “Drivers with fake licenses often become cause of major mishaps on the roads where traffic police hardly checks documents of the vehicles and driver’s licenses,” he added.
