Health Dept. Kargil observes World Anti-Leprosy Day

Kargil,February 03 (Scoop News) --Health Department Kargil today observed World Anti-Leprosy Day with the theme “Let’s Fight Leprosy and Make Leprosy a History” here at GNM, School, Kurbathang, Kargil.

Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan was the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve was the guest of honour.

Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho, Chief Education Officer, Mushtaq Ahmad, Councilor Tai Suru, Aga Syed Abass, CMO Kargil, Dr Munnawar Hussain Wazir, District Leprosy Officer/District Health Society Officer Kargil, Dr Fatima Nissa, Incharge Medical Superintendent, Dr Haji Ali, Block Medical Officer, doctors, ASHA facilitators, ASHA workers among others were present on the occasion.

The CEC in his address said the World Leprosy Day is observed every year, coinciding with the death anniversary of Indian freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi. He appealed the people to contribute and come forward to eradicate this disease.

He directed the concerned to study the disease and do in depth survey to control its spread in the district. He applauded the health workers for their hard work and dedication for spreading awareness regarding the disease.

Khan also suggested the concerned to organize such awareness camps at block level to spread awareness regarding the disease and congratulated Dr Fatima Nissa and her team for organizing the event.

In his address, DC Santosh congratulated the health workers for conducting the mass awareness camp and also asked to organize such camps by involving Education Department and ICDS. He further added that the District Administration is committed to eradicate leprosy and overcome the stigma attached to it.

Earlier, Dr Sajjad Hussain, Dermatologist, presented a PPT about the treatment, transmission, incubation period and also informed about the National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) and its objectives. Later, CMO Kargil Dr Munnawar Hussian Wazir presented the vote thanks.

An academic delegation from Monash University, Australia visits IIM Jammu’s Permanent Campus at Jagti
03rd Feb 2023 Jammu: An academic delegation from Monash University, Australia visited IIM Jammu’s permanent state-of-the-art campus at Jagti. The delegation consisted of Prof. Amrik Sohal, Prof. Julie Wolfram Cox, Prof. Chris Bain, Associate Professor Glen Croy, Prof. Julie Davis, EDI, UK, Dr. Geoff Cox, Surgeon, Australia, and Dr. Janet Hsuan, Surgeon, Australia. Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director IIM Jammu, welcomed the guests virtually from Spain.

The delegation was welcomed at IIM Jammu permanent campus at Jagti in person by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran, Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. Pankaj. K. Agarwal, Chairperson Executive Education and Consultancy, Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Chairperson, Srinagar Off Campus, Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson, IPM, Dr. Minakshi Kumari, Chairperson, Alumni Relations, Dr. Prateek Jain, Chairperson, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, IIM Jammu along with other officers, staff of IIM Jammu. The academic delegation from Monash University visited IIM Jammu permanent Campus site located at Jagti, Jammu for understanding the project intricacies in detail.

Joining the occasion virtually from Spain, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu said, “I on behalf of IIM Jammu welcome the academic delegation from Monash University. IIM Jammu is looking forward to collaborating with Monash University Australia. This will be a vital part of IIM Jammu’s international endeavors and helpful in fostering the advancement in teaching, research, and cultural understanding as well as the international reputation of both the institutes through student exchange, faculty exchange, technology transfer, and research programs. The coming together of both Institutes is sure to open new avenues and meaningful outcomes in the interest of all the stakeholders”.
Prof. Amrik Sohal, Professor of Management, Monash University, Australia said, “Collaborating with IIM Jammu, an Institute of national importance will help us to develop our competence in many key areas ranging from the development of educational and training programs, long-range planning, and Institutional development. The collaboration between the two reputed Institutes will give a leading edge to the research output of Monash University, Australia. Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu said, “The academic delegation visit is sure to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions wherein we discussed in detail regarding academic cooperation to exchange students, professors, and researchers, particularly at the Institute level. The collaboration between the two reputed Institutes will give a leading edge to the research. “

Both Institutes during their interaction discussed collaborative engagements between IIM Jammu and Monash University, including student exchange (Graduate/ Postgraduate/ Doctoral), Faculty exchange, joint research, collaboration, joint conference, academic activities, and strategic partnership. The discussions were fruitful and ended on a positive note
