JKP organizing Run for Fun on April 22
Rajendra finalizes arrangements
JAMMU,April 16 (Scoop News) The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed/Law & Order, K. Rajendra Kumar today chaired a high level meeting to finalize the arrangements for Marathon “Run for Fun” to be held in Jammu City on April 22, 2012. The meeting was held at Armed Police Headquarters here today and was attended by various senior police officers and sports personalities.
Addressing the meeting, Rajendra disclosed that the event is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police under its Civic Action Programme and a large number of people of different age groups is expected to participate in the Marathon. He said that the event is first of its kind in Jammu city and the people have shown much interest for their participation in the Run. Having different categories, the Run would start from Gulshan Ground.
Marathon open category would start the Run with first flag off ceremony at 5 a.m. and return after covering a distance of 42 Kms. upto Nagrota bridge via Sidhra and return via Panchtharti. Half Marathon category for males would have to run a distance of 21.5 kms. which would start at 5.30 a.m. from the venue. Similarly senior citizens category and under 16 boys and girls would start the run from the venue and cover a distance of 4 and 12 kms. respectively, the ADGP added.
The ADGP disclosed that various organizations and groups are participating in the marathon and also the participation of senior citizens, kids would make the run more attractive. He appealed people from all walks of life to join the run and develop a sense of participation among others which would be a highly sigh for the society.
Rajendra said that Yoga and fitness trainers demonstration, orchestra, cultural programme, band display, musical chair for women, spoon race for kids and free medical check up for senior citizens would be the main attractions of rally. He said that all required arrangements have been made and traffic movement on the routes of marathon would be diverted to other routes to make the event convenient and successful. Arrangements for refreshment to the participants were also finalized in the meeting.
The ADGP said that prize distribution ceremony would be held on the conclusion of the rally at the venue and 29 cash prizes in different categories, besides consolation prizes and certificate of participation would be distributed.
Besides Commandants of all Jammu based AP/IRP battalions, the meeting was attended by Inspectors General of Police, A. K. Choudhary and Gulzar Singh Salathia, Director, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, J.P. Singh, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Farooq Khan, Dr. K. K. Saini, Yoginder Koul, A. Q. Manahas, Alokpuri, A. S. Bali and Johney William, SsSP Anand Jain, Nisar Ahmed, Vikay Kumar and R. K. Chalotra, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Kiran Watal, Vice Presidenty, Bar Association Jammu, Usman Salaria, Supdt: Police Hopspital, Basant Kumar and Director Physical Education, Jammu Univefrsity, Dhayan Singh Bhan and other police officers.
