Mufti terms PDP as party of future in Jammu and Kashmir

Hiranagar (Kathua),June 29 (Scoop News) –Terming PDP as party of future in Jammu and Kashmir, patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that PDP has emerged as the real voice of the people of State. He further added that regional parties were emerging all over the country and pointed towards emergence of strong regional political powers in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Orrisa and Punjab where regional parties were dominating political scenes and people of these states have rejected national parties.

Addressing a public meeting at Hiranagar, Mufti said that there was rampant corruption in the State and names of some higher ups in the government have been figured in a number of corruption cases. “Although the corruption has been sneaked into the government from top to bottom, the anti-graft institutions like State Accountability Commission (SAC) have virtually make non functional”, he observed and reiterated demand of PDP that SAC should be equipped with an independent investigating agency to ensure proper investigation of the cases against higher ups.
PDP patron said that corruption has become a big issue in the whole country and a war against corruption has already launched in the country. He supported the demand of Lok Pal raised by social activist Anna Hazare and added that Lok Pal should also be equipped with an independent investigating agency.
Mufti said that he has been addressing public meetings in different areas of the State to spread the message of the party to change the present inefficient and corrupt system. “With the support of the people, PDP wants to change the present corrupt system and to establish a new dispensation of justice and equality”, he said and recalled that PDP during its regime had proved how to setup a new system of justice. “It was result of the performance of our government that the successive government at New Delhi, be it NDA regime or present UPA government, provided all possible help to change socio economic conditions of the people of the Jammu and Kashmir”, he said and mentioned towards a special package announced by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh under Prime Minister’s Economic Reconstruction plan for over all development of the State during PDP-Congress regime.
“It was first time during the PDP-Congress regime that an international agency- Asian Development Bank (ADB), had sanctioned funds for developmental projects in Jammu and Kashmir”, he said and recalled that ADB had sanctioned a whopping amount of Rs 3000 for some projects in Jammu and Kashmir. He, however, regretted that the present regime has failed to avail benefit and the ADB has stopped fresh installment because the government has failed to properly utilize the funds.
Mufti said that PDP-Congress regime had not only implemented the agenda of development but also restored peace in the State through its healing touch policy. “Biggest achievements PDP was that it had convince both India and Pakistan to take some bold Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) to establish lasting peace in this region”, he said and pointed out that prevailing peace on the borders from Kathua to Kargil was result of the peace and reconciliatory policy of PDP. He especially mentioned the historic rally of the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee at Srinagar in which Vajpayee had extended hands of friendship towards Pakistan.
Mentioning towards release of Indian prisoner Surjit Singh from Pakistani jail a couple of days back, he said that relations between two countries have been improving and there was a need to take some more CBMs to further strengthen the relations.


Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of PDP Thakur Balbir Singh said that biggest achievements of the present National Conference led regime was legalization of corruption. He said that during the last three and half years, this regime has patronized corruption and encourage corrupt elements. He said that there was competition between State and Central governments to encouraging corruption.
Falail singh, Anil Gour, Suresh Parkash, Gopal Dass, Rajinder Singh Manhas, Ganga Ram advocate, Jagjeet Singh Jasroita, Sarpanch, Brij Lal Sharma, Sarpanch, Abhijeet Jasrotia, Kuljeet Singh and others also spoke on the occasion.
