Srinagar, October 17(Scoop News) - N. N. Vohra, Governor, today said that universities are seats of knowledge which provide an opportunity for students to achieve academic excellence and prepare themselves to become independent members of their families and contribute towards the advancement of the interests and welfare of the society and humanity at large. The Governor was addressing the Special Award Ceremony of the 18th Annual Convocation of the University of Kashmir, here today, after presenting degrees, gold medals, awards and certificates to the passing out and meritorious students in varied streams and disciplines.
The Governor, who is Chancellor of the University, observed that the present youth have a high responsibility to build a bright future for themselves, their families and their societies and must work hard to become useful members of their communities and utilize their knowledge and skills for the socio-economic advancement of the people of the State and the country.
