JK CM lays foundation stone for 6 mini Hydel projects in Ladakh | | Leh (Ladakh),October 23(Scoop News)- On a special visit to Nubra Valley of Leh district, CM J&K Omar Abdullah today at Tsati village laid the foundation stone for 6 (six) mini hydel projects under Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Govt. of India flagship programme being installed under the Ladakh Renewable Energy Initiative Project implemented by the Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA), LAHDC, Leh under the head of Jigmet Takpa, Project Director, LREDA. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of Degree College Nubra at Diskit.
The hydel projects include Tsati Micro Hydel Project (MHP) 500 KV, Turtuk MHP 500 KV, Chalungkha MHP 800 KV, Bogdang MHP 800 KV, Hinache MHP 600 KV and Chamshren MHP 450 KV at the total cost of Rs.52.13 crores and are expected to be completed by October 2013. Besides, paper works on five other mini hydel projects in Nubra valley are under process which is expected to be fully functional by 2014 and the success of these projects will cater to the electricity need of the entire valley, said Jigmet Takpa while giving a brief note on the projects.
Present on the occasion were Minister for Tourism & Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of State for R&B and Mechinical Engineering Javaid Ahamd Dar, Minister for Higher Education J&K Abdul Gani Malik, CEC, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar, MLA Tsetan Namgial, Executive Concilor for Health Dr. Sonam Wangchuk and CAPD Abass Abidi, Deputy Commissioner, Leh Tsering Angchuk and councilors of Nubra constituencies. Later, CM went for a public gathering at Diskit accompanied by his minister Javaid Ahamd Dar and Abdul Gani Malik, MLA Tsetan Namgial. Speaking on the purpose of his visit to Nubra Omar said, “today we live in a competitive world and I want the people of this part of Leh district to get equal opportunity in development and education to be at par with the rest and the hydel projects and the Degree College in the valley would positively make this purpose of mine fulfill.”
Omar informed the public about the Public Service Guarantee Act and Right to Information Act implemented by his Govt at State level that will ensure speediness in the developmental works and also made a mention of the three bridges at Tsati, Rongdo and Shatse-daksna that got recently approved with the revised estimated cost by his minister after the price escalation issue. Omar exhibited to the public a favourable hope from the Center Govt. on the early sanctioning of a multipurpose tunnel at Khardong-la. Expressing disappointment on the cancellation of BDC elections in the State due to some technical reasons, CM showed hopefulness on holding it in coming months. MLA Tsetan Namgial on behalf of the people of entire Nubra region expressed gratitude to CM for his special visit to Nubra which reflects his concern for the people of Nubra. He also made a request to take up the tunnel at Khardong-la case on an urgent ground and to consider other major issues that includes designating block status to Bogdang and Turtuk areas and to take personal intervention in speeding up the ongoing work of major irrigation canals in Nubra.
At Diskit, Omar also inaugurated the party office of National Conference and laid the foundation stone of 26 kms of Largyab Pachathang Road made under PMGSY at the cost of Rs.23.12 crores.
The Councilor Diskit, Tsewang Rigzin, Councilor Panamik, Tsering Angchuk, Councilor Tegar, Rigzin Wangdus, Sarpanch Kubet, Daldan Namgyal, Sarpanch Panamik and Khema handed over a joint memorandum to CM Omar Abdullah asking for early execution of works on the recently approved bridges in Nubra.
