Kashmir can be developed as capital of adventure tourism: Nasir | Govt keen to revive adventure tourism, mountaineering in J&K: Jora | Srinagar,, November 04(Scoop News) - Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora has stressed the need for exploiting Adventure Tourism in J&K, saying that State has vast potential for developing Adventure Tourism especially Mountaineering and Hiking. The Minister was speaking as chief guest at the Platinum Jubilee celebration of J&K Mountaineering and Hiking Club, organized at SKICC this afternoon, in association with J&K Tourism department and Indian Mountaineer Federation (IMF). The Minister of State for Home and Home, Nasir Aslam Wani was the guest of Honour while President IMF, Colonel Chohan, President Jammu and Kashmir Mountaineering and Hiking Club, Tour Operators, Mountaineers and Everest Clubbers and a number of Adventure lovers were present. Jora pledged full support for revival of mountaineering and hiking in J&K and said that Government put all possible efforts for the development of Adventure tourism. He stressed upon the tour operators to explore new routes of hiking for connecting Kashmir and Ladakh regions. He said tour operators are the principal agents to carry out the task. Jora maintained that if trekking is revived fully, it would provide employment opportunities in rural areas. Nasir Aslam Wani said that J&K is the treasure of mountains and can be developed as capital Adventure tourism. He said Kashmir has vast scope for other adventures like rafting because of its famous rivers. Nasir Aslam Wani expressed hope that J&K Mountaineering and Hiking Club would come up with new goals though it has seen various ups and downs since its inception. President, IMF, President J&K Mountaineering & Hiking Club and various mountaineers also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, a musical concert known as Music of Mountains was presented by renowned Centaur and Tabla players. A traditional folk dance representing all three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and Kashmiri Sazeena was presented.
