Incident on Poonch LoC; Army Commander briefs Governor
Army pays tribute to martyred soldiers
Jammu, January 09 (Scoop News) – Lt. General K. T. Parnaik, Northern Army Commander, briefed N. N. Vohra, Governor, in detail about yesterday’s incident on the LoC at Mankot Sector in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district in which two jawans were killed and two others injured.
It is likely that a further meeting in regard to this very important matter shall take place between the Governor and the Army Commander in the next few days.

Outraged by the brutal killing of two of its soldiers by intruding Pakistani troops, India today strongly protested to Pakistan, warning that the unacceptable incident will have adverse impact on the ties.


Meanwhile Soldiers and officers of the Indian Army paid their tribute to two jawans who were martyred in an encounter with Pakistan soldiers in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir state. Paying tributes to the brave soliders Deputy GOC 25 Infantry Division Brigadier JK Tiwari said the jawans fought bravely before laying down their lives. Large number of soldiers present on the spot also paid rich tributes to the martyred jawans. After a brief ceremony the dead bodies, wrapped in National Tricolour were airlifted in a special chopper to Delhi from where they were shifted to their native places. At Rajouri, wreaths were laid by Deputy General Officer Commanding (Dy-GOC) Brig J C Tiwari.

Wrapped in the tri-colour, the bodies of Lance Naik Hemraj (29) and Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh (28), who laid down their lives while fighting Pakistani troop during a raid by 29 Baloch Regiment, were brought to Rajouri from the forward post in Poonch district today. While Lance Naik Hem Raj belongs to Mathura belt of Uttar Pradesh, Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh is from Madhya Pradesh.

The jawans were yesterday killed by Pakistani troops after intruding into deep into Indian territory along Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir,
