AJKPC expresses deep shock & resentment over the killing of Sarpanch | | Jammu, January 11(Scoop News)-All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference today expressed deep shock and resentment over the killing of its senior leader and Sarpanch Habbibullah Mir by the unidentified gunmen i Jammu, January 11(Scoop News) n his home town there at Zanskar, Tehsil Sopore and District Barramula of Kashmir Valley. Deceased Sarpanch Habibullah Mir was the member of the AJKPC’s 32 membered execurtive body. Habibullah had even attended the Sarpanches Conference here in Jammu organized by the AJKPC on Nov-27 Last Year.
Terming it as total failure of the state government and especially of the chief minister Omar Abdullah and the Panchayati Raj Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar.
Shafiq Mir, Chairman of the All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference demanded immediate resignation of Chief Minister and his Panchayati Raj Minister as they could not protect the elected Panchayat members who are been openly been threatened by the most dreaded terror organization.
We have been urging the state government to take precautionary measure but Instead of taking immediate steps to provide adequate security to the elected Panchayat members, Chief Minister played political gimmick and announced MLC elections and beating their chest terming it as huge success of the present coalition government. This is very shameful that four Panchayat members have been killed by the terrorists so far but the Chief Minister is trying to play down by saying that all these killings might not been done bone by the terrorists.
How can you be so irrational and inhumane that innocent people are being killed and you are orchestrating it as a success, Mir asked the Chief Minister. Whereas Anil Sharma, General Secretary of the AJKPC also criticizes the state government for its tardy response to deal with the issue of security of the 33,000 panchayat members. We have time and again made several prayers to the State Panchayati Raj Minister, Union Home Minister, State DGP and several other senior police officials but still not even the leaders of the AJKPC are provided any security cover. We are left at the mercy of the terror outfit, our plea for security cover is lying unheard with the state government but for the reason best known to them no action has been taken yet. Perhaps they are waiting for an untoward incident. This is high time the union government should also step in save the precious lives of the innocent 33,000 elected representatives. It is pertinent to mention here that on 02/Nov last year Hizbul Chief Syed Salahudin had openly threatened the Panches and Sarpanches of the state to resign from their posts otherwise they would be taught a suitable lesson and it was only the All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference that urged the elected panchayat members not to bow before the diktat of the terror organization and not resign and continue to strengthen the democracy and constitution at grass root level.
