JK CM to dedicate Rs. 42.58 cr new Toll Plaza Lakhapur
Rather gives final touches to the inaugural function
Jammu, January 12(Scoop News) –The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today gave final touches to the grand inaugural function of the Rs. 42.50 crore new Toll Plaza at Lakhapur, which is being dedicated to the people of the state by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tomorrow.
Accompanied by the Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Kifayat Rizvi, Excise Commissioner, Mrs. Vineeta Gupta and District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Mrs. Zahida Khan, the Minister inspected various wings of the new Toll Plaza including weigh bridges, public grievances hall, main office block and parking lot for 240 trucks at a time and said that Toll Plaza has been constructed on fast track basis to make both vehicular movement and tax collection mechanism hassle free. He said in view of the great importance of tax collection in resource mobilization, the completion of this prestigious project is vital for the growth and development of the state.
Rather said the completion of the project is a big leap forward towards modernization and automation of Toll collection system. He said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was very keen to see this dream project fulfilled as early as possible adding that commissioning of the New Toll Plaza will be a historic and revolutionary step of the coalition government to provide hassle free delivery of services to all the stake holders under one roof as both Excise Toll Post as well as Commercial Tax Post has now been housed in the same complex for better coordination and reduction in goods clearance time.
The Minister was informed that the revenue realization on account of toll during 2011-12 has been Rs. 306.23 crore as compared to Rs. 249.82 crores during 2010-2011 registering a growth of 22.58%. The import and export of taxable goods during last fiscal has been of the value of Rs. 28924 crores and Rs. 12369 crores respectively.
