Satya Sai Central Trust condoles death of Dr Amarnath Safaya
Anantapur/ Jammu, January 12(Scoop News) –Satya Sai Central Trust and doctors of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS),Andra Pradesh on Saturday had expressed heart felt condolences over the sad and untimely demise of Dr Amarnath Safaya, the former director of SSSIHMS at Puttaparthi, Prof A. Anantharaman,Media Coordinator, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, said in a statement.
Statement said that rich tributes were paid to the deceased and recall his services to Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences. They expressed deepest sympathies the bereaved family and prayed to God to grant peace to departed soul in heaven and strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss.

Prof A. Anantharaman said that Dr Safaya passed away in Delhi on January 10,2013. He was chosen as the first director by Sai Baba in 1991 and had served in that position for two decades. He also served as the director of SSSIHMS at White Field in Bengaluru in its initial years. During Dr.Safaya's tenure SSSIHMS,Prasanthigram saw an all-round development and established itself as an institution par excellance.Four specialities viz Cardiology,Urology,Opthalmology and Orthopaedics were started during his able directorship. He was also instrumental in organizing three international Cardiac Conferences and three international Orthopaedic Conferences in the hospital,Prof A. Anantharaman said in a statement.
Statement said that Dr.Safaya resigned from the post of Director of the hospital owing to health reasons in October 2011 and had settled down with his family in Delhi.

In his illustrious career,before being the director of SSSIHMS,Prasanthigram Dr.Safaya had served as the Medical Superintendent of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences,New Delhi for 16 years and had been the founder president of the Association of Hospital Administration.He was also the Vice President of the National Board of Examinations,Government of India from 1990 to 1992.

Dr Safaya was born on October 2, 1932 at HabaKadal, Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir state. He did his MBBS from Agra University and pursued MD from the University of Kashmir in 1964.
