Shia Federation’s resentment against continuous discrimination

Jammu, January 18(Scoop News) –Shia Federation Soobha Jammu has expressed strong resentment against continuous discrimination against the Shia Muslim Community and its neglect in J&K state. A meeting of the federation held here today under the Chairmanship of its President Aashiq Hussain Khan lodged a strong protest against injustice meted out to the community in the recent cabinet reshuffle in the state. It rued that two cabinet minister in the previous Council of Ministers as Qamar Ali Akhoon from Kargil and Aga Sayeed Ruhallah from Badgam had been dropped in the recent reshuffle. Only one member of the community, Firoz Khan from Kargil has been inducted as MoS. This tantamount to raw deal given to the community, which has a population of 13 lakh in the state.

The federation in a statement also expressed resentment over manipulation through delimitation of districts and tehsils through which 8 Shia Community majority pockets in Kashmir have been reduced to only three. Demanding justice and fair deal with the community, Aashiq Hussain Khan said that the Shia Community members will support in the next elections those parties which give justice and equitable representation to the community. The federation also rued that presently there is only one MLC from the community.

The Shia Federation Soobah Jammu has also expressed its deep resentment over a portion of Karbla complex on Wazarat road Jammu having been converted in to a police station. The community has been far long demanding shifting of the police station from there and handing over back the portion to the community for its inclusion in the Karbla Complex. Mr. Aashiq Hussain said that deep sentiments of the community are involved and demanded that the portion of the complex occupied by the police should be restored to Karbla Complex. He added that the Chief Minister has assured the deputation of Shia community that the portion will be restored to the community for its inclusion in the Karbla Complex. But nothing practical in the matter has been done.
