AJHLA hails the budget proposals

Jammu, March 7 (Scoop News) -All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association (AJHLA )has hailed the budget proposals presented in the state assembly yesterday by the Finance Minister AR Rathar. Describing the budget as tourism friendly, Jammu hoteliers association has thanked Mr Rathar for accepting their demand to extend the tax waiver to hotels and lodges for one more year.
A meeting of the Jammu hoteliers association, held here today, under the chairmanship of its President Indeerjeet Khajuria particularly welcomed reduction of VAT on food and snacks served in the hotels, restaurants, Dhabas and all other eateries. Mr Khajuria observed that since J&K is a tourist state, with all the 3 regions of the state having vast tourism potential and over 1.5 crore tourists and pilgrims visiting the state annually, the sops provided to the hospitality sector will go a long way in further promoting tourism and pilgrimage in the state.
The association particularly conveyed its jubilation over Mr Rathar announcing in its budget speech to take effective steps to make Jammu as independent tourist destination. This has been the long pending demand of the association, which has been demanding early execution of tourism related projects in and around Jammu city, to offset the likely loss of business in the city after train reaches Katra. In this respect AJHLA appreciated the mention by Mr Rathar of speedy completing of projects in and around Jammu, as Lake in river Tawi, face lift of tawi banks, up gradation and beautification of Raghunath Bazaar, promotion of border tourism at Suchet Garh and Chamlyal as well as development of tourist spots in Akhnoor as well as cable car from Mubarak Mandi to Bahu Fort . The association however demanded that the time frame for completion of all these projects should be fixed and the work on these should be taken on war footing, to make these functional at the earliest. They also demanded allocation of adequate funds specifically for these projects, out of total proposed outlay of 330 crores for tourism in Jammu

Besides Inderjeet Khajuria, the others who were present in the meeting included Ajay Gupta Sr. Vice President, H.S Manhas Vice President, Pawan Gupta Gen. Sec., Baldev Treasurer, Bikram Singh and Sunil Suri Secys
