| JK Minister makes statement in House about Saidpora killing | | JK Minister makes statement about Saidpora killing Jammu, March 14 (Scoop News) -Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah today informed the Legislative Assembly that as per reports received from IGP Kashmir zone Nafrees of 73 BN of CRPF were on way to SKIMS to donate blood for the CRPF personnel who had been injured in the Bemina attack earlier in the day. They reportedly met with an attack from alleged group of stone pelters at Saidpora Eidgah, Srinagar. The CRPF men retaliated and opened the fire in which one Altaf Ahmad Mir, age 35 years was killed.
Making a statement in the House about the incident, the Minister said FIR No: 15/2013 was registered in Police Station Soura and investigation was ordered.
Minister of State for Home, Sajad Kichloo, while intervening, informed the house that Chief Minister, Mr Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Tara Chand are in Srinagar and reviewing the situation and hoped they would take an appropriate decision regarding Saidpora incident soon.
Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul has strongly condemned the Saidpora firing incident in which one of his very close associate and a staunch National Conference supporter Altaf Ahmad Wani was killed. While expressing condolences with the bereaved family the Speaker demanded that the state government should institute a judicial enquiry into the incident and bring the culprits to book. He said Altaf was an innocent person who had nothing to do with any kind of stone pelting and was not involved in any other unlawful activities and as such his killing has shocked him and the people at large. The speaker urged the state government to ensure that the dependents of the deceased are taken care of and adequately compensated immediately. ... |
