Arrangements finalized for 4th Mughal Rally-2013
Kichloo for coordinated efforts to make the event a grand success
Srinagar/Jammu June 19 (Scoop News) –Final touches were given to 2-days 4th Mughal Rally-2013, commencing from 28thJune, at a high level meeting held here this afternoon. The Minister of State for Tourism, Home and Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo. Arrangements for the safety and contingency of the rally including security, road clearance, convoy movement, health and emergency services were discussed threadbare to make the rally incident free and a grand success.
It was informed that the army would conduct the ROP in advance and secure all identified routes. On 28th June under Leg 1 (extreme) the rally will pass from Srinagar-Pulwama-Shopian-Dubjan-PirkiGali-Bufliaz-Shopian-Srinagar under Leg-1(Enduro) the rally will pass through Srinagar-Pampore-Pulwama-Shopian-Dubjan-PirkiGali-Bafliaz- Thannamandi-Rajouri-Akhnoor-Jammu. Similarly, on 29th June under Leg 2 (extreme) the rally will pass through Srinagar, Khanabal, Qazigund, Veerinag, Kokernag, Daksum-Sinthan Pass- Srinagar whereas under leg-2 (Enduro) the rally will pass through Jammu-Reasi-Mahore-Gool-Ramban-Return via National Highway to Srinagar.
It was also stated that all road works whether by CRPF, PWD or NCC on the days of rally as per the event schedule need to be stopped for smooth passage of the participating cars. No traffic, especially oncoming shall be permitted on rally routes on the designated days of the 4th Mughal rally only vehicles bearing stickers of the Mughal Rally will be permitted access to the sealed roads. The army was asked to ensure that no convoy movement is there on competitive stages on the rally days. However, on transport stages, civilian and army traffic may be allowed to ply normally provided no roads be blocked by traffic jams.
The meeting was informed that the army and J&K traffic police will assist in recovery of vehicles on the rally in case of any breakdown. It will be ensured that the Mughal Road remains open on the 28th June from 0700 hours to 1800 hours and no repair work is carried out on this day.
It was decided that as per last year Himalayan Motor Sport Association will induct two lifesaving trauma ambulances from Fortis Hospital at Mohali to look after any untoward incidents. These will be manned by trained doctors and equipped for almost every contingency and will be with the rally 24 hours from start to finish.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held at the SKICC on 30th June 2013. The Jammu and Kashmir Department of Information will launch a vigorous publicity campaign about the historic rally.
Speaking on the occasion, Kichloo urged for greater coordination between the concerned departments and agencies to make the event a grand success. He said Mughal car rally has now become a permanent feature to showcase state’s rich tourism potential, adding that tourism has now emerged as a vibrant economic force world over. He said car rallies on the Mughal road via Simthan Circle will also help to generative economic activities enroute the rally besides attracting large number of tourists.
The meeting among others was attended by the Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Attal Duloo, Chief of Himalayan Motor Sports Association, Vijay Parmar, I.G. Traffic, Muneer Ahmad Khan, Ex-DG Tourism, Mohammad Ashraf, DIG, Security, Mushtaq Sadiq, Director Information, Zaffar Ahmad, Director Tourism, Kashmir, Talat Parvez, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir Qazi Hafiz-Ullah, senior Army, CRPF, BSF, Fire and Emergency Services, Chief Executive Officers of various Tourism Development Authorities.
