Inter-College Seerat Conference held at boys GDC Anantnag

Srinagar, June 19 (Scoop News) –Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone today urged upon the teachers to inculcate moral and ethical values among the students besides ensuring modern education aided with latest trends and techniques.
The Minister was addressing a Seerat Conference held at Government Boys Degree College Anantnag on the topic “Significance of Ethics in Contemporary world”.
Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Principal GDC, Anantnag, Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, Moulana Noor Ahmad Trali, Moulana Abdul Hamid Nayeemi, Principals and Students from various colleges of the valley besides Staff and large gathering of college students were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Lone said Islam teaches tolerance with patience and guides human beings to live a pious life full of virtues, besides asks to help your brethren without any discrimination of caste, colour and race. He said it is need of hour to inculcate spirit of oneness among communities and nations as unity is the only tool to face wrath of social evils of modern times. He said that we should live a life in which we should practise what we say and obtain the guidance from the great life of our Prophet Mohammad (SAW). He urged upon one and all to put in their efforts for the eradication of social evils from the society.
Lone also enjoined upon the faculty members of the colleges to deliver their assignments with devotion and dedication along with social and moral responsibility..
DC, Anantnag, Principal of the College, participating students and other dignitaries also spoke on the topic and unanimously stressed for living a better life and work for eradication of social evils from the society.
Earlier, the Minister inspected various departments and blocks of the college and took stock of various ongoing construction works being executed for the upgradation of college infrastructure which include Geography block being constructed at the cost of Rs. 3.15 crore. Lone directed the concerned executing agencies to speed up the pace of the work and complete the project within stipulated time besides ensuring quality of the work.
Lone also inspected the construction work of college auditorium, estimated to cost Rs.5.71 Cr. He also announced release of Rs. 10 lac for the upgradation of the boys hostel in respect of providing necessary infrastructure to the students. He also directed for the repairing and face-lifting of various blocks of the college.
Later, the Minister paid surprise visit to the Government Degree College for Women’s Anantnag and took stock of its functioning.
