NC seeks decisive vote for strengthening democratic, secular forces

Ramnagar, April 12, (Scoop News)- Senior National Conference leaders Mr Rattan Lal Gupta and S Gurdeep Singh Sasan on Saturday sought a decisive vote from the people of Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, saying the ongoing Lok Sabha elections are battle between reactionary forces and those who want to take the nation to highest pinnacles of progress, development and prosperity.
Addressing public meetings at Majalta, Mansar and Khoon in Ramnagar area, they said the vote to Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad will be to strengthen secular forces and ensuring development across the region.
“The alliance parties represent the political and developmental aspirations of the people”, State Vice President Mr Rattan Lal Gupta said, adding that the coalition government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has worked towards this objective with a sense of commitment. “It is because of the strenuous efforts put in by the government, the state is witnessed a turnaround in the situation with development taking central stage”, he said while enumerating the achievements of the government during the past over five years.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gurdeep Singh Sasan exuded confidence that the alliance candidate will win with a big margin. He said the alliance between National Conference and Congress is based on principles, which dates back to the era of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehra. He said the vision of Sher-e-Kashmir is being singlemindededly translated into action and referred to the sincere efforts made by National Conference to remove poverty, combat illiteracy and undertake development in big way across the State.
The two leaders urged the people to come out in large number on the day of polling and exercise their democratic right in favour of the secular and development oriented candidate Mr Azad.
Prominent among those who participated in these meetings included Raj Kapoor, Om Prakash, Mr O P Sharma, Mohammed Iqbal besides Sarpanches Mohan Lal, Rabhubir Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Dewan Singh and Om Prakash. Also present in these meetings were Dr B D Sharma, Suram Chand and S Din.
