| Mehbooba Condemns arrest of Gh Hassan of Shahgund | | Srinagar, April 20, (Scoop News)- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has condemned the arrest of Gh Hassan of Shahgund Sonawari by the police after the demonstrations were held against the NC leader and MLA Sonawari Mohammad Akber Lone in the village Shahgund.
Gh Hassan is the uncle of Irfan Ahamd who was killed by security forces in Naidkhai last month.
Mehbooba said it is the height of insensitivity and highhandedness that Gh Hassan has been arrested for the outrage expressed by the residents of village agianst government’s inaction in the shooting incident.
She said instead of reaching out to the bereaved family the government in its typical arrogance has arrested a member of the family. This she said reminds one of the victimization of the family of two lady victims of Shopian in 2009 who were prosecuted along with the doctors conducting postmortem and the lawyers of the family.
She said there has been an understandable outrage against the government’s inability to take action against those who killed Irfan Ahmad.
The expression of anger against the government is now being treated with brazen use of force in the area said Mehbooba.
Meanwhile the people of the area led by PDP district president Yasir Reshi also protested outside the police station Hajin against the arrest of Gh Hassan.
