| LC panel asks PDD to streamline power supply | | Srinagar, July 22, (Scoop News)-A meeting of the Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-I) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council on Power Development Department was held today under the chairmanship of MLC, Mr Showkat Hussain Ganai to review the working of Power Development Department.
The Committee asked the PDD authorities to streamline power supply to consumers in the state, so that the people of the state won’t face any inconvenience in this regard.
Legislators, Mr Vijay Bakaya, Syed Asgar Ali, Mr Ali Mohammad Dar, Mr Abdul Majeed Bhat and Aga Syed Ahmed Rizvi attended the meeting and gave suggestions to improve the functioning of the PDD in the State.
Principal Secretary, Power Development Department, Mr A. K. Mehta briefed the committee about the functioning and activities of the department besides highlighting physical and financial achievements of the department. He said that the power situation of the state has improved during last five years.
During the threadbare discussion, a Power Point Presentation was also given about the initiatives taken by the department for improving power scenario in the state.
The Chairman of the Committee stressed upon the PDD authorities to make sure that all the damaged transformers are replaced by the new ones before Eid, so that people do not face any inconvenience during festival.
Managing Director, JKSPDC, Mr M. A. Kakroo, besides other senior officers of concerned department and Council Secretariat attended the meeting.
