3.49 lakh pilgrims pay obeisance at Amarnath Shrine


Srinagar, July 28, (Scoop News)- 5,403devotees paid obeisance before the Ice Lingam today. With this, a total of 3,46,752 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave since the commencement of Shri Amarnathji Yatra.

The weather was pleasent and yatra was going on smoothly from Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps, yatra officials said.
They said pilgrims, including women and sadhus, left Baltal base camp for the cave shrine early this morning. The yatris are expected to reach the cave shrine to pay obeisance before the self made ice-shivlingam. Similarly pilgrims, who reached Nunwan Pahalgam base camp last evening from Jammu also started their journey to Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route.
They said pilgrims, who had night halt at different halting stations on the track, including at Chandanwari, also started their journey to the holy cave shrine this morning.
However, pilgrims, who had night halt at Panjterni paid obeisance before the ice-lingam after covering the five-km-long distance on foot.
A spokesman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) said that about 4,500 yatris had darshan of the self-made ice-lingam yesterday.
With this, total 3,41,349 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the holy Cave since the commencement of yatra from June 28 from Baltal and July 2 from Pahalgam routes.
Amid tight security, the 32nd batch of pilgrims today left for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from here.
As many as 460 pilgrims, including 244 men, 113 women and three children left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in a cavalcade of 14 vehicles at 4:20 AM, police said.
The convoy has already crossed Patnitop on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and would reach their destinations at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps by this evening, they said.
With today’s batch, a total of 51,715 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath shrine.
