| One day KCC, Labour, Himayat, UDAAN awareness camp at Khour | | Jammu, July 28, (Scoop News)- stressing upon officers to spread awareness about different welfare and developmental schemes, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said the government has launched ambitious initiatives for the benefit of unemployed youth, agriculturalists and other needy sections of the society and need of the time is to ensure that more and more people get themselves registered under these welfare schemes.
He said adequate promotion needs to be given to different schemes launched in rural development, labour, agriculture and employment sectors so that those living in rural areas are made aware of the benefits extended under various schemes.
“Panchayati Raj representatives have to play key role in making people aware of various welfare programmes and development initiatives launched by the government for all round development and benefit of all sections of the society,” he added.
Tara Chand was today addressing a day long registration cum awareness camp of Kissan Credit Card (KCC, Labour department, HIMAYAT and UDAAN at Khour.
250 KCCs were distributed on the spot and 1100 applications were submitted to bankers.
District Development Commissioner, Ajeet K Sahu, Director Agriculture Dr. S.S. Jamwal, SP Rural, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Leed district manager, Sarpanchs, Panchs, senior officers of Agriculture department, Himayat and UDAAN participated in the camp.
Emphasizing on the need to promote mass awareness about government schemes, the Deputy Chief Minister said the present camp is one of the series of camps that have been organized for making people aware about different welfare and employment schemes launched under SKEWPY, Labour welfare, Agriculture, Urban Development and other departments for addressing the needs of people.
He said Kisan Credit Card is an effective tool for providing soft loans to the farming community for different agriculture related activities and saves farmers from the clutches of private lenders. In order to make agriculture sector a profitable venture its scope needs to be extended to allied activities of bee keeping, dairy farming, sericulture, poultry and mushroom farming, he added.
Tara Chand appealed the youth to avail optimum benefit from SKEWPY scheme, which not only ensures voluntary service allowance but promotes entrepreneur culture among the youth. He said need of the hour is to look beyond the government sector and train the youth for facing challenges of the coming times.
He said aim of the flagship SKEWPY is to extend a helping hand to unemployed by extending counseling and motivating them to get equipped with the employable skills as needed in the present market economy.
“The SKEWPY is new initiative but people all over the state have started taking benefit from it, as more than 40 lac are already getting Voluntary service allowance and over Rs 60 crore have been extended as seed capital fund”, he informed.
He called upon all those workers engaged in the field of construction and labour activities to get registered with the labour welfare board meant for them, so as to avail a host of benefits extended to them, adding that all type of construction workers are covered under the scheme. The registration would ensure that laborers and construction workers get financial support for different needs like education of children, marriage, accidents as well as fatal injuries, he added.
The District Development Commissioner in his address highlighted the role of different welfare schemes launched and the progress achieved in the district. He called upon the beneficiaries to come forward and ensure maximum participation.
