Kichloo for mass awareness campaign regarding Diarrhoea control among Children
Kishtwar,July 30 (Scoop News)- Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Home, R&B, MED, H&UDD, Tourism and Culture Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today called for a mass awareness campaign regarding Diarrhoea control among children and asked the Health Department to ensure effective implementation of all their schemes on ground in letter and spirit.
The Minister was speaking on a workshop organised by District Rural Health Society Kishtwar to observe Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight under NRHM.
The theme of the programme is “Zero Childhood Diarrhoeal Deaths”. Kichloo said that there is a glaring lack of medical facilities in remote areas and thus such programmes should also be organised in these far flung areas so that the common people get benefited. He said that the classes in the newly established AMT School, work on construction of an additional block of 100-bedded IPD block and renovation of maternity block would be started soon. He also announced Rs. 10 lakh from his CDF for development of hospital.
Earlier, CMO Kishtwar gave elaborate presentation regarding the Diarrhoea Control Programme launched in the District. He informed that out of 30 thousand children below five years of age almost 11 per cent are died every year due to this disease. He said that under Intensive Diarrhoea Programme, mass awareness is being created through ASHA, Anganwari workers and PRI’s. Free ORS packets are being distributed by ASHA workers in every village under the supervision of concerned BMO’s.
Superintendent, District Hospital Kishtwar Dr. Pervez highlighted the importance of personnel hygiene, sanitation and oral rehydration for effective check of this disease.
While Dr. Javed Iqbal and Dr. Sanjay Parihar talked about the causes and prevention of the diseases.. Dr. Wajid Ali conducted the proceedings.
Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
