Centre waives off Rs. 59.74 cr interest money to JK State | | Srinagar, July 31, (Scoop News)- With the constant persuasion by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CA&PD), Ch. Mohammad Ramzan, the Central Government has waived off the interest money amounting to Rs. 59.74 crore which the State Government had to pay to the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
The State Government time and again requested to the Central Government to waive off the outstanding interest money the State had to pay to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) on account of procurement of food grains way back in 1999 and 2002 on credit.
The State had paid the actual cost of food grains. The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah along with Ch. Mohammad Ramzan met the Union Minister for Food & Consumer Affairs, Ram Vilas Paswan early this month and sought his intervention to waive off the outstanding interest amount.
The Centre has agreed to the request of the State Government and has waived off Rs. 59.74 crore out of the total outstanding interest payment of Rs. 70 crore, which is considered to be a major achievement. ... |
