Restrictions on Mirwaiz on Eid day
direct interference in religious affairs by authorities: spokesman
Srinagar, July 31, (Scoop News)- All Party Hurriayt Conference (APHC) spokesman Thursday said that the amalgam is deliberating with legal luminaries
contemplating legal action including filing a PIL in the court of law against the authorities for laying restrictions on religious activities of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on important occasions like recent Eid-ul-Fitar.

The authorities took arbitrary measures on
Eid-ul-Fitar by placing chief cleric under house arrest at his Nigeen residence thus barring him from delivering Eid sermon on Eid day.

Meanwhile,number of people including lawyers, religious and political leaders, scholars,elders and civil society members met Mirwaiz and expressed their dismay over the govt decision of putting him under house arrest on the auspicious occasion of Eid.

Being the chief cleric of Kashmir, authorities have stopped him from offering Eid prayers for past five years,spokesman said.

He said restrictions on the religious activities of Mirwaiz tantamount to direct interference in religious affairs.
