Congress-NC engaged in futile mock fights: Baig
Says state suffered major damage under present dispensation

Srinagar, August 19, (Scoop News)- Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Member of Parliament, Muzzafar Hussain Baig, Tuesday, has said Congress and National Conference are engaged in futile mock fights to divert attention of the people from the collapse of administration, complete anarchy and loot under Omar Abdullah.

Referring to the statement of the Congress leader, Prof. Saifudin Soz about the inability of the chief minister to convene cabinet meeting and its possible fallout in the shape of collapse of coalition, Baig said the two parties are engaging themselves in futile mock fights.

“If the Congress feels that the coalition has damaged the interests of the state the party should have walked out of the government by resigning from it. Instead of doing that it is again looking up to Omar Abdullah for his failure to convene cabinet meeting rather than take a pro-active stance,” he said while addressing a public meeting in Langate constituency of Kupwara district.

Baig said the state has suffered major damage under the present dispensation and the ‘tu-tu-main-main’ between National Conference and Congress is ridiculed by the people as they can see through this game which is aimed at diverting the attention of the people from the collapse of administration, complete anarchy and loot under Omar Abdullah.

Baig called upon the people to use their vote consciously in the forthcoming assembly polls to see the end of their grievances and plights. He said the people’s participation in the electoral process is a must as it is only through democracy we could lead Jammu and Kashmir to prosperity and peace. “People must shun cynicism and vote enthusiastically in the coming assembly polls in the state,” Baig said and added vote is a powerful weapon in hands of citizens to bring about change.

The PDP MP said boycott of polls is not solution to our problems as it has not yielded us anything in the past nor will it do any good in future. He said people particularly the youth have a crucial role to play in the forthcoming elections and they must understand the value of vote in a democratic setup so that J&K could be transformed into vibrant, modern and peaceful state.

Baig said the PDP has its own agenda and policy for the welfare of the state and its people and it is not against any idea or individual. “We have our own policies and programmes and we will continue to pursue them till there is an end of post independence siege in the state,” he added.

Calling for a decisive mandate for the PDP, Baig said we need a strong government in the state so that it could pursue its agenda with full freedom and it will not have to rely on others to run the affairs of the state. “You must give us clear mandate in the elections to allow us finish our unfinished agenda of political resolution and good governance,” he told the public meeting.

On this occasion prominent social and political activists of the area, Altaf Ahmad Quershi and Khursheed Ahmad Peer joined the PDP. Welcoming the new entrants into the party fold, Baig said it is encouraging to see that people from different walks of life are joining the PDP in good numbers and reposing faith in the democratic process to find solution of their problems. He said PDP offers a platform for well meaning people like Altaf and Khursheed to encourage them and play their role in the party’s vision of political resolution and good governance in the state.

On this occasion Mohammad Dilwar Mir, the party General Secretary; Advocate Abdul Haq Khan, MLA; Gh Nabi Pandithpori, candidate for Langate constituency and Irfan Sultan Panidthpori were also present.
