Spalbar calls Nubra valley an ornament of Ladakh

Leh, August 20, (Scoop News)- The Kunrogs Tsogspa of Diskit, Nubra today celebrated the valedictory function of the 3 days long Annual Fund Raising Mela organized at Mini Stadium, Diskit and CEC, LAHDC, Rigzin Spalbar was the chief guest on the occasion. He was accompanied by EC, Health Dr. Sonam Wangchuk and MLA, Nubra, Tsetan Namgial.

Addressing the gathering, CEC said that the coming generation is the future of Ladakh and stressed that the responsibility is on our shoulders to pass on our identity, moral values and cultural heritage to these budding youngsters in its true sense. “It is our primary duty to provide our children with all the facilities, knowledge and wisdom to make them a better citizen and a true Ladakhi,” asserted Spalbar and expressed appreciation for Kunrog Tsogspa for their contribution in ensuring a better future for the children of Nubra region.

Spalbar calling Nubra valley an ornament of Ladakh reiterated the names of big personalities associated with Nubra from all fields be it a political leader, administrator, army personnel, academician, doctor, he said that the natives of Nubra have always made Ladakhis proud and has remain an inspiration for others. He added that organizations like Kunrog Tsogspa are playing major role in encouraging and aspiring children towards education and LAHDC is always ready to extend support to such organizations.

MLA, Tsetan Namgial in his speech stressed on the importance of education and said that to strengthen education system in Nubra he has been taking up the case of shortage of post of lecturers and teachers in Nubra sub division constantly at secretariat level. He also made a mention of the financial aid provided to Kunrog Tsogspa out of his MLA fund.

Tsering Angchuk, member, Kunrog Tsogspa highlighting the aim and objective of Kunrog Tsogspa said that the Tsogspa was established in 1990 with 12 members and since then the Tsogspa has been engaged in various social works including the raising of the huge statue of Chamba near Diskit Monastery. He added that from 2011 they shifted their focus to education and started with the present fund raising mela making it an annual feature and said that these funds have been used to give free tuition in winters to the students from Nubra valley belonging to poor families.

Tsewang Dorje, Principal, Higher Sec. School, Diskit was honoured by CEC for the good work and dedication in his duty towards the school. The new Tesildar of Diskit and Principal of Degree College, Diskit were also presented khataks.

Various stalls were set up for the purpose of raising money and a scintillating cultural programme depicting the rich culture and tradition of Nubra valley was presented on the occasion.
