JLNM Hospital to have new block, M R Gunj Health Centre
brought under Urban Mission
Srinagar, August 20, (Scoop News)-Jammu, August 20 (Scoop News)- In a major decision set to benefit people of old Srinagar city, the Government today accorded nod to the construction of additional block at JLNM Hospital, Rainawari, Srinagar which includes a separate ward for pediatrics also.
The decision was taken at a meeting to review the functioning of some old city hospitals of Srinagar. The meeting was chaired jointly by Minister for Rural Development & Panchayats, Ali Muhammad Sagar and Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi ud Din.
It was decided in the meeting that work on the new patient block at the Hospital would commence within 8-10 days after finalization of drawings by the Health Department. This would make JLNM a 300 bedded hospital which has emerged as a major health centre for the people of downtown Srinagar and adjoining areas. The entire project is expected to cost Rs. 57 crore on which Rs. 34 crore stands already expended.
On the occasion, Taj directed equipping JLNM Hospital with latest and ultra modern equipments so that the patient care is further improved at the Hospital.
Specifically the Minister directed immediate induction of Video Endoscope, Digital X-ray, Boyle’s Apparatus, Laparoscope, Harmonic, C-Arm, STP for lab and Systocope at the Hospital costing around Rs. 1.30 crore. He also directed procuring one Laparoscope and Genset for Gousia Hospital, Khanyar as well.
The Minister also directed setting up of a mechanized laundry plant at JLNM Hospital, which would also cater to the needs of other adjoining hospitals as well.
The meeting also decided to bring Health Centre at Maharaj Gunj under Urban Health Mission in view of its centrality and inducting more facilities at the centre, which is one of the old health centers in the city. This includes raising an appropriate building for the centre with two additional kiosks (sub centres) and all the necessary equipment, besides a Mother & Child Hospital.
Addressing the meeting, Sagar said JLNM Hospital has emerged as an important medical centre in the Srinagar city where patients from within and outside the city come for treatment. He expressed his satisfaction over the quality of services being provided to people there for which he thanked the Health Minister.
Commissioner-Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Gazzanfar Ali, Directors of Health Services, Kashmir & NRHM, MD, JKPCC and other officers were present in the meeting.
