Vikramaditya asks people of Jammu to remain united to get adequate share in power
Jammu, August 22, (Scoop News)- Reaffirming his commitment to work for strengthening inter-regional unity in Jammu and Kashmir, Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh today exhorted people of Jammu to remain united to get adequate share in the power. He observed that unity was imperative for the people of Jammu to become part of the decision making process.
Addressing an impressive public meeting at Jaswa village in support of party candidate Thakur Suram Singh for the Marh assembly segment, Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh reiterated he has joined politics to work for the betterment of the people of the State in general and Jammu region in particular. “There is need for the people of whole Jammu region-from Poonch to Kathua and from Kishtwar to R S Pura, to remain united to get adequate representation in the government”, he said and reminding the people that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as chief minister of the State had treated all regions equally and had ensured development of all individuals.
“It was all due to such policies of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that I have chosen PDP as a party to start my political career”, Vikramaditya said and observed that three-year tenure of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was rightly termed as golden period in the democratic history of Jammu and Kashmir because it was only during that period equal treatment was given to all regions of the State. He, however, regretted that the path of equitable and balanced development carved out by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was not followed by other regimes.
“With your support and blessing I want to restore dignity and honour of the people of Jammu region”, he said and maintained that adequate representation of Jammu in the power was possible only under the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Reminding the people about contributions of erstwhile Dogra rulers in the socio-economic growth of Jammu and Kashmir, Vikramaditya Singh said that it was desire of Maharaja Hari Singh that entire State must remain united. He further added that present Ranbir Panel Code (RPC) was contribution of Maharaja Ranbir Singh. “Maharaja Hari Singh had introduced Revenue and Justice system in J&K”, he said and recalled that Maharaja Hari Singh had opened temples for those who were earlier debarred from entering temples. He further added that the menace of untouchability was removed by Maharaja Hari Singh.
While pointing towards problems being faced by the locals, Vikramaditya Singh emphasized on the need of exploring tourism potentials in the areas located on the sides of Jammu-Poonch national highway. “Some time back, I had traveled Kashmir through Mugal road. I was really impressed by the scenic beauty all along the track”, he said and observed that there was a need to tap tourism potential in this belt.
Impressing upon the state government to formulate a comprehensive policy to attract local youth to start industrial units in their respective areas, he was of the view that some incentives should be announced for the local youth to encourage them. “Development of industry is must to cope up with the problem of unemployed”, he said and regretted that successive governments have failed to attract investors even in the areas which are best suited for setting up industrial units.
Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh exhorted the youth to join hands with him to take the movement for change to its logical conclusion. “Change is impossible without involvement of youth in the movement”, he said.
