AIIMS to organize one week medical camp in SNM hospital


Leh, August 22, (Scoop News)- In view of the one week medical camp by super specialist doctors from AIIMS to be held in SNM hospital, Leh from August 25, 2014 a significant meeting was convened by EC Health, Dr. Sonam Wangchuk today to review the arrangements made by distt Health Deptt in this regard. The meeting was attended by CMO, Medical Suptd., and specialist doctors.

Chairing the meeting, Dr. Angchuk said that it is a good opportunity for the medical fraternity of Leh district to offer their services to the people of the region. He urged upon the local doctors to take seriously their responsibility and work in a coordinated manner to make this medical camp a great success. He also instructed the health deptt to make timely arrangement of emergency medicines and operation theatres and to run smoothly the existing hospital routine of indoor and outdoor patients during the medical camp.

Dr. Yangchan, MS informed the meeting that accommodation arrangements for the 21super specialists of different department coming from AIIMS have been done in the OPD, SNM Hospital. She added that with each super specialist doctor, one local specialist and a medical officer will be assigned and the list of it is already made. Besides, list of other staffs like anaesthetist, nurses, pharmacist and para medical staffs are also made, told Dr. Yangchan assuring everyone of the smooth and timely preparations made by the health deptt in carrying out the medical camp efficiently and effectively.

The CMO, Dr. Phuntsog Angchuk informed about the fulfilment of all the demands made to them by SNM in terms of doctors and other medical staffs, vehicle, etc. and gave assurance to provide with further assistance as per requirement.

It is for the knowledge of every Ladakhi that during this camp a separate registration tent would be set within the premise of SNM hospital to get registered for consultation of super specialist from AIIMS. The patients already screened and the old patients too need to get them registered and collect their slips to get to the super specialists from the same counter. Till date around 400 patients have been screened for the consultation of the super specialists, told EC, Dr. Angchuk and expressed great hope that maximum number of Ladakhis would be benefited from this camp. He credited Ven. Lama Lobzang for this nobel work and said that the distt Health Deptt too has extended full support and worked real hard in making this camp highly beneficial for the people of Ladakh and a great success every year.

EC, Dr. Angchuk also made a mention of an eye camp to be held in Leh SNM Hospital from September 10-13, 2014. He told that this eye camp is being organized by YDA in collaboration with Health Deptt, Leh under the guidance of Skyabje Thukrhas Rinpoche which earlier was to be held in Nubra because it is primarily for the people of Nubra valley. For the same a team of doctors and technical staff will visit various villages of Nubra for screening of patients from September 1 to 7 who will be then treated in Leh during the eye camp. Screening of patients with eye cases in Leh will be done on September 9 and 10, told Dr. Angchuk, Eye Specialist.
