Feroz reviews functioning of JAKEDA, S&T, IT Deptts
Stresses for work in mission mode to make J&K technologically progressive
Srinagar, August 23, (Scoop News)-Minister of State for Science & Technology and Information Technology, Feroz Ahmad Khan reviewed functioning and progress of JAKEDA, Science & Technology(S&T) and Information Technology (IT) departments in a meeting convened here today.
Secretary Science and Technology Department, Parvaiz Ahmad Malik, Additional Director, State Science & Technology Council, CEO, JAKEDA, CEO, JAKEGA and Consultant State e-Mission Team and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
The meeting deliberated upon various issues and matters pertaining to the departments and suggested various measures to be taken for making these departments more vibrant besides improving their functioning so that their basic aim is achieved. On the occasion, the Minister was given detailed overview of all three departments through power point presentations.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister stressed upon the officers to work in a mission mode with more dedication to make Jammu and Kashmir State technologically sound and progressive. He said government has given focused attention to e-governance and has introduced various projects for making J&K a digital state so that day to day affairs of the government organisations and the people are carried out at the click of a button thus reducing unnecessary delay, and hassle to the common man besides ensuring speedy disposal of matters.
Khan also asked the officers to ensure awareness among the people about the schemes launched by the government and disseminate the information among the masses especially residing in remote areas.
The Minister was informed that Information Technology has taken up various projects in hand including State Data Portal, e-District Services, e-Treasury, digitization of demarcation of State Forests, Online RTI services besides applications for PHE, PDD, Higher Education Departments and other departments which they hoped will reduce consumer-office interaction and help fast services.
While giving detailed overview of JAKEDA Khan was told that various projects under Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy are in pipeline to produce electrical energy from non conventional resources of energy. He was informed that department is making all efforts to exploit maximum of such resources like wind, water and solar energy. He was also told that solar lights are being provided on subsidy to the people living in remote and un-electrified areas.
Regarding the functioning of Science and Technology department the Minister was informed that a Science Centre/science museum will be established in the State soon for which Rs 6 crore have been sanctioned by the centre government. It was also given out that Biotechnology Park, Patent Information Centre and Innovation Council Centre besides various other programmes aimed at progress and popularization of general sciences is on anvil to encourage and provide platform to the young talent having scientific temperament.
