Ramzan for timely completion of R&B projects
23 schemes being executed in Handwara Constituency
Srinagar, September 01, (Scoop News)-As many as 23 schemes amounting to Rs. 59.14 crore are being executed under R&B sector in Handwara Constituency. Of them 15 are being executed under PMGSY, 3 by JK PCC and 5 under projectization programme.
This information was given in a meeting convened here today under the chairmanship of Minister for CA&PD and Transport, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, to review the pace of progress on these schemes.
Taking detailed review of progress project-wise and scheme-wise, the Minister directed the executing agencies to accelerate the pace of construction on the under-execution projects ensuring their timely completion. He laid stress for ensuring quality of work strictly as per specifications. He also took serious note of slow pace of progress of some vital projects in the Constituency and asked the concerned for paying personal visits at the sites to monitor the pace of work.
The meeting was informed that out of 15 sanctioned schemes under PMGSY, 10 schemes stand completed by utilizing Rs. 35.47 crore against sanctioned cost of Rs. 45.28 crore constructing 59.54 kms against target of 73.60 kms and connected 8 habitations of the Constituency. The work on the three projects is in process, while as tenders have been invited for the rest two projects.
The meeting further informed that 3 projects include bridge at Shartwari, Nagri over Pohru nallah, single lane steel girder bridge at Nagri and building of Primary Health Centre Batpora Magam are being executed at a cumulative cost of Rs. 10.86 crore by the JK PCC. The work on bridge at Shartwari, Nagri Kupwara is near completion and the work on other projects is going on in full swing.
The work on 3 road projects have been taken up under Projectization programme under R&B sector, while as project reports of some vital roads have been prepared and submitted for formal approval and funding, the meeting was informed.
The projects under BADP and BRGF also came under discussion during the meeting.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Superintendent Engineer, R&B, PMGSY and District Manager JKPCC.
