DC Baramulla takes stock rescue relief operations | Educational institutions to reopen on Sept 17 in Baramulla | Baramulla, September 15, (Scoop News)- Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Farooq Ahmed Lone convened a meeting of district officers today to review the prevailing flood situation and take stock of relief and rescue operations being conducted in the district. It was informed that about 85 villages have been affected in the floods. Nearly 45 relief camps and langers have been established, 25 tents, 250 blankets and 29 boats have been provided to the people. The government has evacuated about 55000 people from inundated areas and 99 people were rescued at Boniyar. The officers apprised that 47 tractors, 4 special bus services, 55 water tankers have been pressed into service. About 400 qt rice was provided in the relief camps and 1.35 chlorine tablets were distributed. Regarding restoration work, it was informed that 5 major bridges, 16 small bridges, 47 km road, 37 PHE water supply schemes in Baramulla and 110 water supply schemes in Uri have been restored so far. In PDD sector, 80 percent power supply has been restored, in Uri, 75 percent in Pattan and 90 percent both at Baramulla and Tangmarg have been restored. About 25 kg sand bags have also been kept available at vulnerable areas. The DC asked the officers to remain stationed at their respective places to monitor the relief and rescue operations. The DC also visited district hospital Baramulla and FCI godowns. He enquired about the stock of medicines and ration.
