| Omar convenes high level meeting to review relief & rehabilitation measures | | 
Jammu, September 15, (Scoop News)- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today convened a high level meeting of officers of Civil and Police administration to review the rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures in Kashmir province as the State government has paced up the relief and rehabilitation process and the situation is improving day by day.
During the meeting, it was apprised that the situation is under control as the water level is decreasing and the people are returning to their homes.
It was informed that increased relief supply to the city is needed besides more pumps are needed to put in service for draining out the water.
The Chief Minister emphasized on adequate supply of ration, medicine and dewatering to be taken care on war footing. He said heavy duty dewatering pumps have been installed and more would be put in service to drain out the water. Carcasses need to be quickly disposed off as directed to Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) besides cleaning up operation in the city would be intensified.
Chief Minister stressed on augmenting all out efforts by hiring more vehicles for transportation of relief and other facilities to the public.
Secretary Health informed that medicine consignments have been received and are being distributed to hospitals and medical camps. He informed that nine lakh chlorine tablets have already been distributed and 10 lakh more are being received for further distribution. He also informed that hospitals that were inundated during flood are now starting to function and are being monitored. Similarly 65 percent electricity has been restored in Srinagar city and in other districts as well. However in Shopian it may take a few more days due to heavy damage to electricity towers.
It was informed that Railways have been restored and the train moved from Budgam to Baramulla while the train is expected to move from Srinagar to Baramulla tomorrow besides the condition of internal roads is also improving and traffic has began to ply. Mughal road has also been made functional for traffic movement. Traffic at Ramsu is also likely to start tomorrow where heavy landslides have extensively damaged the National Highway.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a meeting of council of Ministers in which he decided to start the civil secretariat from September 18. It was also decided to do away the practice of Saturday and Sunday holidays observed by the government offices in the valley except educational institutions till durbar move.
It also decided to divide Srinagar into three zones to ensure clean up and sanitation for which three officers have been designated to monitor each zone.
