| Develop Srinagar, Jammu as smart cities: Gupta | |
Jammu, September 23, (Scoop News)- State Vice President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Mr Rattan Lal Gupta on Tuesday sought inclusion of Srinagar and Jammu cities in the central scheme of ‘smart cities’ for ensuring their overall development on modern lines.
“Keeping in view the tourism importance of Srinagar and pilgrim destination of Jammu, the two cities of Jammu and Kashmir qualify for being including under the 100- cities target of the Union Urban Development Ministry”, he said in a statement issued here today.
Mr Gupta urged the Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah to take up the issue with the Centre which has embarked upon identifying two to three cities in each state for the purpose. He said the demand assumes added significance as the entire city of Srinagar and several areas of the Jammu city have braved the brunt of unprecedented floods recently, causing damage to property and infrastructure.
