Workshop for election management organized at Leh

Leh, October 18, (Scoop News)- A one day workshop for election management was organized at Leh by Ladakh and Kargil Election Management Cell under the aegis of Tsering Dorgey District President and which was presided over by State General Secretary Kavinder Gupta and Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency Incharge & BJYM Prabhari Yudhvir Sethi. Various aspects of the election management were discussed and guidelines suited for the mountainous desert of the state were laid. The workshop was amongst others attended by State Working Committee Members, Distt. Office bearers, Mandal and booth level activists.
Kavinder Gupta, in his instructive and illuminative discourse on the subject threw light on the various aspects of the media management during and after elections. He said that it is essential that the media is always kept in the loop in respect of ideology, political activity as also various issues agitating the mind of the common man. He further said that media management and interaction with it is not confined upto the elections only but continues even thereafter. In the modern times of information technology and electronic media, we have to take media seriously and develop a positive synergy with them so that they give true and comprehensive picture of our political ethos and approach and at the same time avoiding being overbearing or casual towards the media. How to and what to convey to the media before, during and after the elections has to be before hand visualized and though tout. He expressed hope that with the vigorous well planned campaigning and media management he is sure that the Ladakh unit of the party will repeat the parliamentary performance.
Yudhvir Sethi, in his address at the workshop, dwelt on the mechanics of booth management and publicity management and also how to conduct political activity so that not to fall foul of model code of conduct. He said that for each booth a group of around five grass root committed workers has to be pressed in to managing the the booth. Merely holding election meetings and rallies will not suffice for winning the elections but on the day of voting it has to be ensured that every voter comes out of the home and votes as the entire exercise of electioneering has to result in actual voting. Without actual voting electioneering would be meaningless. He also said that publicity for the party has to be effected in a manner and mode which would persuade a voter of a remote village to the vote for the party and what may be persuasive for a villager of Jammu may not be so for a voter of Ladakh and hence publicity has to be tailored for the villages of the Ladakh.
Tsering Dorgey thanked the leaders who had gone from Jammu for having given a instructive discourse to the rank and file of the party of Ladakh.
