| Dynastic leadership led Congress’ decline: Balbir | |
Jammu, October 21, (Scoop News)- With repeated electoral defeats of Congress, first in Lok Sabha elections and now in States of Maharashtra and Haryana, a demand from its leaders and activists have started echoing-‘Priyanka lao Congress bachao’-which once again has vindicated the stand of BJP that the Congress party promoted only dynastic rule and has faith in just one family in India, despite it being a country of more than 125 crore people.
This was stated by BJP State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, while reacting over the demand by Congress leaders and activists for bringing in Priyanka to save Congress aftermath recent poll debacles.
Balbir Ram said that such a demand has once again proved that while BJP promotes talent and efficiency by virtue of which any activist of the party, irrespective of his caste, creed, religion, region or political background, is deemed fit for the highest post to lead the party or the government, whereas in Congress only a person from Gandhi family is accepted as party’s head for most of the terms.
“It also speaks of the mindset of the Congressmen, who either do not have capacity and capability to discharge responsibility of top positions in the party or an inferiority complex has grown among them during the past over 6 decades that only some one from Gandhi parivaar is fit for the top posts in Congress”, he mentioned.
Balbir Ram Rattan said, “During 2014 Lok Sabha election, when BJP had announced Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate, our party leaders and activists stood united under the slogan and appeal –‘Modi lao Desh Bachao’. This slogan recognised the contribution of Modi as a man of greater vision, dedication and an architect of development as he had proved the same in Gujarat. The entire nation was at that time yearning for a leader who could lead the nation and not be a mere ‘rubber stamp Prime Minister’ as it was in UPA regime, where the real power was vested in just one family, otherwise how could one justify public humiliation meted to the Prime Minister of the nation by the ‘heir apparent’ of the family when Rahul Gandhi termed a duly approved ordinance by the union cabinet as ‘complete nonsense that should be torn and thrown out’.”
He added, “The people across the country who were feeling suffocated with the dynastic rule of Congress, themselves realized that Modi and his party stood for the nation and its people and rejected Congress which only promoted dynastic rule of a family and takes care of a handful of big houses with no concern for the nation or its people.
Balbir said that BJP, after independence, had Atal Behari Vajpayee, L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Venkaiah Naidu, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah as its National Presidents and none of them carried the baggage of any lineage. Congress on the other hand, after Independence, has become the preserve of just one family.
Balbir Ram questioned the Congress leadership for its slogan of having internal democracy within party and said that people of the country have lost faith on the dynastic leadership of the Congress and the same has been proven in recent elections of Lok Sabha and Harayana, Maharashtra assembly elections. “Congress is now a sinking ship and a directionless political party which is on a decline path”, he concluded.
