15 Sarpanches & Numberdars from remote Suru and Zanskar taken on an educational tour by army:Spokesman | | Kumbathang (Kargil), October 21, (Scoop News)_Educational cum Motivational tour organized for the sarpanchs, numberdars and veer naaris from the remote villages of Kargil district to visit various Indian cities was flagged in at Kumbathang on Sunday, a defence spokesman said on Tuesday.
He said this tour was organized to give exposure about socio-economic customs and conditions prevalent in other parts of the country and also strengthen the existing bond between the army and the locals from Suru and Zanskar Valleys.
The tour consisted of 15 sarpanches and numbedars visited Kargil War Memorial at Dras enroute before moving to Jalandhar, Ambala and New Delhi.
Apart from this, they visited few small scale industries and model villages in Punjab and Haryana thereby, gaining valuable experience for possible implementation of similar models in their own villages, the spokesman said.
They also paid visit to culturally and historically important monuments in Delhi like Lal Qila, Qutub Minar, India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Besides these, they also visited and experienced modern marvels like the Delhi metro and few multi-storied shopping malls.
On interacting with the participants, they expressed happiness over the initiatives taken by the Indian Army, he said. ... |
