Prime Minister to celebrate Diwali with flood-hit people in Kashmir | Separatists call for strike on Modi's visit to Kashmir |
New Delhi, October 21, (Scoop News)- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today himself announced on his twitter account that he will visit Kashmir on Diwali and spend time with flood-hit people in Srinagar.
"Will be in Srinagar on Diwali, 23rd October & will spend the day with our sisters & brothers affected by the unfortunate flood," Modi tweeted.
Kashmir was hit by unprecedented floods last month in which widespread damage was caused.
Modi has already announced Rs 1,000 crore for rehabilitation of the state and promised to do whatever else the government can.
Meanwhile Separatists leaders Shabir Ahemad Shah and Syed Ali Geelani have given call for one day strike against the arrival of Modi in Kashmir.
Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir headed by Shabir Ahmad Shah has called for strike on 23rd October on the eve of Diwali as the prime minister of India Narendra Modi has decided to celebrate the festival in Kashmir.
Huriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has also given call for one day strike on the arrival of Modi in Kashmir.
Huriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement stated that the amalgam has called for a one day strike and peaceful protests on October 23 against the visit of PM Modi. ... |
