Speaker distributes relief cheques among flood affected families
Srinagar, October 25, (Scoop News)-The Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul today distributed relief cheques among 250 flood affected families of Eidgah Constituency at Tehsil office Eidgah and directed the concerned authorities to speed up relief and rehabilitation process initiated by the government.
Addressing a large gathering on the occasion, Gul expressed his sympathy with the people affected due to recent floods and assured them that government would take all measures for their rehabilitation as distribution of interim relief is a part of the initiatives.
The speaker congratulated the people of the area for getting Nayabat, Block and Tehsil offices in the Eidgah Constituency and expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for fulfilling the demand of people by taking revolutionary and historic decisions.
Later, the Speaker conducted tour of various Shia dominated areas of the constituency and took stock of Muharram arrangements put in place by the district administration.
Gul visited Arwath, Khankahi-sokhta, Laigardoori and other areas of Eidgah Constituency and interacted with representatives of Shia community. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure un-interrupted power and adequate water supply in these areas besides keeping water tanker service available. He also directed the CAPD officers to ensure timely and adequate supply of essentials including Ration, atta, Sugar and K.oil to the locals especially to people belonging to Shia community during holy month.
Gul asked the municipal authorities to ensure cleanliness in and around Imambargahs and approach roads and ensure better street lighting arrangements for the convenience of the Muharram mourners. He asked the officers of Health department to setup medical camps at various places besides procure services of Ambulances in these areas. He also instructed the concerned for better traffic and parking arrangements during Muharram.
The Speaker was accompanied by the officers of PHE, PDD, SMC, Health, R&B and other district officers.
Earlier, the Speaker reviewed the Muharram arrangements at an officers meeting and was informed that adequate arrangements have been made for the mourners during these holy days.
