3 days training programme in disaster management commences
Government Committed to Strengthening Disaster Management Plan: Gazzanfar
Srinagar, October 28, (Scoop News)-Three days training programme in disaster management for ASHAs was inaugurated by the Commissioner /Secretary Health & Medical Education Department, Shri Gazzanfar Hussain here today.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Gazzanfer reiterated Governments’ commitment on the disaster management system in J&K. He directed the State Health authorities to work out the modalities so that reservation in state nursing schools can be made for ASHAS who are eligible to become ANMs and GNMs.
Dr Yashpal Sharma, Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K, in his welcome address highlighted the importance and objectives of training programme and said that a team of ToTs shall be trained at State level by the National Training team from MoH&FW and NHSRC in various skills which shall further train a team of trainers (DRPs) at district level for two days, who will further train block ASHAs Coordinator/ASHA Facilitators and ASHAs each in a phased manner. He said 12000 ASHAs , 816 ASHAs facilitators and 225 DRPs shall be trained to deal with nature and manmade disasters in various life saving skills.
Dr. Saleem-ul-Rehman Director Health Services Kashmir and Dr. Baldev Sharma Director Family Welfare, J&K, also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Mushtaq Dar DNO (Kashmir), Dr. Jitender Mehta, Dr. Ajay Khajuria and Sadiq Khan of ASHA programme were also present in the training.
National Level team comprising of Dr. Ravi Kanth Singh, Dr. Archana Thambare from Doctors to You NGO and Arun Srivastav from NHSRC New Delhi are imparting the training. State ASHA Trainers, District ASHA Coordinators, District Programme Managers and District Monitoring & Evaluation Officers are being trained in Disaster Management.
