Credibility of Congress at its lowest ebb: Balbir
Jammu, October 30, (Scoop News)-Questioning the stoic silence of Congress for almost 12 years on the issue of discrimination with Jammu when it was enjoying power first with PDP and later with NC, State BJP has asked its leadership to reveal its compulsions which did not allow it to utter a single word against this discrimination.
BJP State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, while referring to the recent allegations of discrimination with Jammu by a Cabinet Minister & senior leader of Congress that blackmail tactics are being adopted by the ministers of NC and Jammu is being discriminated, termed it as political gimmick having no genuine concern for Jammu and said that credibility of Congress on this confession by its own minister has gone precipitously down.
Elaborating further, Balbir said that the politics of opportunism and ‘’kursi prem” of the Congress leaders prevented them to realize the pain and sufferings of Jammu and Jammuites as a result of which they could not utter any word of protest earlier and now when their graph of popularity is decline, they are finding it difficult to face the people once again and as such are induging in allegations and counter allegations against their coalition partners.
Balbir Ram Rattan said that the BJP, being only opposition party which has concern for Jammu and its people, seek an explanation from such Congress ministers as to what forced them to sit as mute spectators in Cabinet meetings when decisions regarding preferential treatment to Kashmir and discrimination with Jammu were being taken. He said that 12 years is not a short period and it is obvious that dozens of anti-Jammu or discriminatory decisions were taken and what were these Jammu based Congress Ministers doing, who are now shedding crocodile tears when the elections are around the corner.
He further said that Congress has nothing to offer to the people of Jammu in these elections thus it is induging in raising discrimination issue which is a sheer election stunt as same Congress was party to these discriminatory policies and decisions for last 12 years of its power sharing with PDP and National Confernce respectively. “It is indeed a matter of the fact that Jammu has been facing discrimination for the last more than six decades and since Congress had, for maximum time, remained in Govt as coalition partner with one party or the other, so it is infact Congress which has discriminated with Jammu, he mentioned, adding that “the issue of discrimination with Jammu will prove waterloo for Congress in 2014 assembly elections”.
