DUJ & DPUC express solidarity with Central Trade Unions


New Delhi, October 31, (Scoop News)- The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) and the Delhi Press Unity Centre 2014, express solidarity with the Central Trade Unions in their struggle against the proposed amendments to the Labour Laws and their fight against contract labour.

Following an emergency General Body meeting, preceded by the executive, it was resolved that its members will join the joint demonstration by the central trade unions on December 5, 2014.

A meeting of the executive has been called on Monday, November 3, for follow-up action and to discuss on the issue of greater unity by friends of DUJ in various states.

Informal consultations with fraternal bodies of newspaper unions has been initiated by the President, general Secretary and the Treasurer, DUJ along with the office bearers of the Delhi Press Unity Centre for the proposed demonstration in Delhi next month.

We also extend support to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) in its campaign against attacks on journalists in Pakistan. We declare our support to the 'Pakistan National Day of Action Against Impunity’ being observed by the IFJ.

The meeting also resolved to join the fight against unfair labour practices in the newspaper industry, including attempts to end the Working Journalists Act and blatant non implementation/or partial implementation of the Wage Board award sanctified by a Supreme Court Judgment.
