| Development of Border areas PDP`s top priority: Manhas | |
Karnah, November 27, (Scoop News)- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Secretary and Chief Election Coordinator, Mr Zaffar Iqbal Manhas has said the socio-economic development of border areas will remain the top priority of the PDP government under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed once it is voted to serve.
“People living in the border areas have not unfortunately come out of their backwardness and underdevelopment in spite of having voted for a particular party for most of the time,” he said while addressing a well-attended public meeting in Karnah constituency of Kupwara district. The party patron, Mr Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the senior party leader and Member of Parliament, Mr Muzzafar Hussain Baig were scheduled to address the gathering but due to bad weather conditions they could not visit the place. Heavy downpour didn’t deter the enthusiasm of the people of Karnah who later participated in a road-show which traversed 12 long kiolmeters.
PDP State Secretary also added that the state is witnessing a massive upsurge for a change throughout the state and the response and support shown by the politically mature people of Karnah towards the PDP is nothing but a mere representation of the wave that is blowing across Jammu and Kashmir. More than 500 senior workers from NC and Congress joined PDP on the occasion.
Manhas said the interests of the people living in the border areas are important for PDP’s vision of making Jammu and Kashmir a bridge between India and Pakistan. He said it was only during the brief tenure of the PDP real peace was realized on the borders but everything got changed when National Conference and Congress took over the reins of Jammu and Kashmir in 2009.
He said both National Conference and the Congress are responsible for the sufferings of the people living in the border areas like Karnah,Tanghdar, Uri etc and the PDP has formulated a comprehensive plan for the overall development of these areas.
Raja Manzoor, the PDP’s candidate for Karnah constituency; Abdul Rehman Badana Ex MLC, Javaid Mirchal, Raja Yaqoob, Qazi Irshad and others were also present on the occasion.
