Panthak Morcha demands citizenship to West Pak Refugees

Jammu, January 24, (Scoop News)-Panthak Morcha has urged the Prime Minister of India and Governor of J&K to grant citizenship rights to West Pakistani refugees settled in the state for over six decades and end their sufferings in matter of employment in government and ownership of property so that they can live peacefully.
In the statement Panthak Morcha President Sardar Gurcharan Singh said that thousands of nationalist men, women and children are stateless for over 65 years only due to biased and communal approach of Kashmiri leaders belonging to Congress, NC, CP(I)M, separatist outfit etc. he said that it was then tall leaders of Kashmir Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah who facilitated rehabilitation of refugees from West Pakistan following emergence of Pakistan and partition of the country in 1947.
Gurcharan Singh said that thousands of refugees from Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) migrated to this side in 1948-49 and are living in Jammu Province besides spread in various parts of the country. They are all state subjects and should be called back to J&K and settled in Kashmir province to meet the ends of Justice.
Gurcharan Singh said that J&K belongs to all Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Christans etc. and they have legal rights to settle in any part of the state.
Panthak Morcha leader said that NC, Congress leaders have exploited the majority of Muslims in Kashmir over the genuine rights of Jammu Province which comprises different religious, ethnic communities. He further demanded that delimitation commission should be ordered under the Governor’s rule to defreeze the reserved assembly seats for PoK residents living a refugees here and equalize the assembly constituencies/seats thus end the political injustice to Jammu people.
