Indian Army & Pak Soldiers exchanges sweets on the eve of Republic Day


Srinagar/ Tangdhar,January 26, (Scoop News)-The 66th Republic Day was celebrated today by the Chinar Corps and Awaam of valley with fervor and happiness. Large number of people comprising civilian, eminent social workers, village elders and Army persons participated in the celebrations at various locations in Valley. National Flag was unfurled and National Anthem was sung by everyone a defence spokesman said.. After the flag hoisting ceremony, tea party and interaction was organised between Awaam and troops. Message of Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Subrata Saha extending Warm Greetings and Good Wishes to Awaam on 66th Republic Day, Celebrations and to all ranks on the auspicious occasion was communicated,he said.
Series of events were organized at Baramula, Kupwara, Awantipura and Shalatang Cantonments under the aegis of respective units and formations which included activities such as drawing, essay writing, indoor games and competitions for children. Large number of children in the various age groups participated in the competition with “Kashmiriyat” being the main theme all across the valley. In various places, interactions of Army with civil officials and locals of the areas was also organized. The events finally culminated with prize distribution to the winners and runners up in the various categories the spokesman said..

He said that in separate ceremonies held at Kaman Aman Setu in Uri Sector and Teethwal Village Crossing Point in Tangdhar Sector, Indian Army soldiers offered Sweets to the Pakistani Soldiers on the occasion, Pakistani soldiers reciprocated with the similar gestures and offered sweets to Indian soldiers to mark the 66th Republic Day of India. Such friendly gestures are part of the customary traditions at the line of control to express the respect for each other’s democracy and sovereignty,.
