Army Colonel,Police jawan, 2 militants killed in gun battle in Tral | Governor expresses grief over the loss of Army Colonel and Head Constable | Tral /Jammu, January 27, (Scoop News)- Army Colonel, one Jammu and Kashmir Police jawan and two militants killed in an fierce encounter in Mindora village of Tral in South Kashmir.
N.N. Vohra, Governor, has expressed grief over the loss of Army Colonel and Head Constable.
Reports said that a fierce gun battle broke out between the militants and an Army unit and local police after launched a cordon and search operation in Mindora village of Tral. Army Colonel and Police jawan were killed in an encounter with Hizbul Mujahideen militants in Tral area of Pulwama district. The Colonel, Munindra Nath Rai, was injured and shifted to the 92 Base Camp hospital at the Badami Bagh cantonment in Srinagar where he later died.Police Head Constable Sanjeev Singh was also martyred in the encounter.
Reports said that two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were also killed in the encounter.They were both locals. The operation was launched after security forces got a tip off that a local Hizbul terrorist along with another accomplice had come home.
Some arms and ammunition have recovered from the scene of the encounter.
Meanwhile N.N. Vohra, Governor, has expressed grief over the loss of lives of Colonel M. N Rai of 42 RR and Head Constable Sanjeevan Singh of Special Operation Group, who succumbed to their injuries after being wounded in the ongoing encounter with militants at Tral in Kashmir Valley.
The Governor has conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
