Obama’s visit to India has piqued Pak and China

By Dr. Ved Pratap Vaidik

With Obama’s visit to India, Pakistan and China are completely perturbed. They feel that a secret deal has been made between India and America. The two biggest democracies of the world have become good friends. In these conditions, China does not continue to be the central focus of Asia and Pakistan is out of the wedlock with America. Both the countries have expressed a strong reaction on Indi-US joint dialogue, which needs and analysis.

Let us take China first. When Obama was in India, then Pakistan’s actual ruler, chief of the army staff Raheel Sharif was in China. God knows whether it was coincidental or planned. During his stay in China, the songs of the long-lived friendship of Pak –China were sung and the Chinese spokesperson had strongly commented on Indo US relations. He condemned that in its joint dialogue by India and US, why did they raise the issue of free sea trade in southern China sea? Why should India and America intrigue between the regional matters of eastern Asia. China has said that all the countries of this region wish to resolve their issues amongst themselves. There is no dispute over transport between countries of ‘ASEAN’ and China. It is a matter of concern for China that America and India plan a new strategic move between whole of Indian subcontinent.

I find this worry of China as entirely baseless. The above said matter which has been discussed in the joint summit has been repeated many a times by America with other countries. Why China is giving air to this old rotten issue. The trade of China with America is almost six times that of India. In American industries, endless China’s capital has been invested and the number and importance of Chinese people in US is phenomenal. America dare not disappoint China. Yes, it is talking indeed of supporting some old, worn-out nuclear furnaces in India.

Same way, the foreign minister of Pakistan Sartaj Aziz is also based on the fact that America is giving permanent membership to Indian Security Council. United Nations Organisation is not a county of America that it can get membership to anyone. As far as membership of Nuclear Suppliers Club is concerned, India is fully competent on that and it is not difficult for it to attain that. If Pakistan feels jealous on the same issue, it would be better if it makes itself capable to be so. China and Pakistan both must try to understand the real meaning of the visit of Obama to India.

Undoubtedly, the power and esteem of India is on the rise with each passing day. But India cannot become a super power by making China and Pakistan its enemy or by letting it down.
