179 youth of J&K begin journey as proud soldiers


Srinagar, March 04, (Scoop News)- The majestic Bana Singh Parade Ground at the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre today showcased its latest batch of 179 passing out recruits from the State of J&K. The young soldiers marching in precise unison with a singular aim of devoting their life in service of their nation, singing their Regimental Song ‘Balidanam Veer Lakshnam’, inspired one and all as their voice echoed in the valley.
The 42 weeks of strenuous training of Recruit Course Serial number 98 culminated today with an impressive passing out parade. Their Passing Out Parade, depicting graduation of Recruits and their transformation into a Young Soldiers, was reviewed by Lieutenant General Subrata Saha, GOC Chinar Corps, and was attended by over 2000 parents / relatives of the young soldiers from the State of J&K along with a number of civil and military dignitaries. The daunting soldiers of the Regiment hailing from all regions and religions of the State of J&K, took oath in unison to serve the supreme cause of the Nation. National Anthem being played with inspired patriotic vigour added on to the ceremonial ardour and salute to the tri-colour. Lieutenant General Saha congratulated the Young Soldiers for their immaculate Parade. During the address, the Reviewing officer impressed upon the young soldiers to uphold the traditions of selfless service towards the Nation. The General Officer praised their contribution towards encouraging more & more youth from J&K to come forward to join the Indian Security Forces & also highlighted the vital role played by the parents in motivating their wards to join this noble profession.
The General Officer also felicitated two brave young boys namely Abdul Majjid Bhatt and Javeed Ahd Bhatt of Village Takiya, Safapura, Distt Bandipura who displayed utmost presence of mind by informing the security forces about the unfortunate helicopter accident that occurred on the night of 11 February 2015. These brave young boys extricated the bodies of Lt Col Gulati and Maj Tahir Hussain Khan from the burning wreckage of the helicopter.
At the end, proud parents and relatives pipped the soldiers making them ready to join their battalions and to tread the immortal path of glory, living up to the expectations and the best traditions of the Indian Army. As a mark of respect, gratitude & recognition of contribution made by the parents of these young soldiers, they were all also presented with the Gaurav Padaks instituted by the Indian Army.
