AJHLA urges Sewerage department to complete the work on the layout of pipes
Jammu, March 30, (Scoop News)- All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association (AJHLA) has expressed concern on the delay being caused in providing Sewerage Connections to the Hotels despite assurance by the authorities to do the needful by end March 2015.
Addressing the meeting Inderjeet Khajuria President urged the Sewerage department to complete the work on the layout of pipes and provide connections to the Hoteliers in Jammu who are under constant pressure of the Pollution Control Board to install Sewerage Treatment Plants or else close the operation of hotels forthwith. Notice to the effect has already been issued by the PCB to the Hoteliers and the survival of thousands of employees and their children is at stake as a consequence.
Mr Khajuria appealed Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat for their personal intervention to ensure sewerage connections to the Hoteliers at the earliest and in the meanwhile directing J&K State Pollution Control Board. not to harass the Hotliers in view of the fact that it is the responsibility of the Sewerage Department to complete layout work and provide connections who had earlier committed completion by end December 2014 which later they extended to March 2015. Narrating the economic crisis the Hotliers are facing Mr Khajuria said that the Pollution Control Board has already sealed the operation of occupancy in rooms exceeding 19 room in theHotels which can not be made operational for occupancy unless sewerage connections are provided. The department of Sewerage has already completed most of the pipe laying work in the City and the Treatment plant has already been installed at Bhagwatinagar. There remains only the providing of connections to the Hotels which should be accelerated as the progress is dead slow. The concerned Head of Department alogwith executing agencies are required to be made responsible for completion within stipulated period.
Present in the meeting included Pawan Gupta General Secy , H>S>Manhas Vice President, BikramS ingh, Sunil Suri, Gurdarshan Singh, Baldev. ML Sharma.
