Nine Families shifted to safer places in Poonch
Poonch, March 30 (Scoop News)- As per an official communiqué it has been informed that due to incessant rains in the district that led to around 50 people being marooned near grid station at Chandak and five families whose houses have come in danger zone as a result of massive landslides in village Chhamber Kinari have been shifted to safer places by the district administration. Around 50 people trapped at Chandak were evacuated by a team of district administration led the SSP Poonch, J S Johar and ADC, Mumtaz Ali Chowdhary. Six families of village Chhamber Knari and three families of Chandak have been accommodated in Government Middle School Dattigala and Government Middle School Chandak respectively.
Five houses in the district have been damaged, three of them fully, while power supply to six villages has been affected. Power supply in the upper reaches of Loran, Sawjian, Harimora, Buffliaz and Sangiote is partially affected. Three water supply schemes and seven PWD roads have also suffered damages. Crate & diversion works and head works of 23 Khuls have also been damaged.
District Development Commissioner, M H Malik who is closely monitoring the situation and has directed the officers of PHE, PDD and PWD to press their men and machinery into action and restore the affected infrastructure at the earliest. CA&PD authorities have also been directed to provide Kerosene and food commodities to the affected families. Moreover, all the vulnerable areas especially those prone to landslides are being monitored.
